Every spring I like to elevate my wardrobe with a few updated staples that I know I will get a lot of use out of. Pieces that I know can easily carry from day to night and I always like to update my outerwear by adding chic, light weight coat. Wether it’s a new jean jacket, or this spring I added two light weight trench coats (the bomber jacket is also really huge this spring). There’s this myth that trench coats should be expensive because they are staple pieces and you’re going to have them for ever, blah, blah, blah. Well that’t not true. The trick in picking out an affordable trench that looks expensive is all in the details. Make sure it has epaulets, at least one gun flap and back vent or rain flap, it should be double breasted, feature cool buttons (but if it has cheesy buttons you can always switch those out) and it MUST be lined. This one by Tobi is met everything on the list and it is only $84, but currently on sale for $42.
I styled it with this Tularosa denim skirt, because a denim skirt is also a spring must have staple. This one is so cute, I am obsessed with the braided waist, I couldn’t pass it up. I finished the look with a simple long sleeve t-shirt and white sneakers. for a fresh spring look.
